Designer dogs.  Hate 'em.  What's that?  They're "hybrids?".  Screw you Biff, they're mutts.  Go to the pound, pay your 50 dollars and act like a man.  "This here dog is a pound dog....it eats cockapoos".  That's the kind of gritty Joe Bagadoughnuts, fat-guy off the rack sensibility your humble author can relate to.

Just for the record: I can't stand yer labradoodle, puggle, yorkipoo, hamstershund, chickenbernard, shnoodle, any dog cross-bred with a shih tzu (reigning "Gheyest Dog on the Planet"), shnorkie, maltipoo, antelopoodle, pugapoo, non-descript--tiny-bodied-over-sized-head-google-eyed-freak-of-nature-overpriced-but-you're-willing-to-pay-1000-smackers-because-you're -a-tool dog.

For the record...I own a weiner dog and a yellow lab.  Neither is superior to a mutt but damnit, call a mutt a mutt.

There, I feel better.  As you were.

So, these kids go to a zoo. And in the zoo, there's just the one enclosure. And in the enclosure, there is a small white yappy dog.

When they go home, their Ma asks 'em if they had a nice time at the zoo.

"No." the kids say. "It was a shih tzu."

A serious dog owner

Dude, I can really jump on this rant with you. :) I'm a serious dog owner of 38 years. My mother and I raised Standard Poodles for many years, as well as I have had a German Shepherd, and three mix breed dogs. Loved them all. Been obedience training dogs since I was 8... besides conformation training, showing, etc. Designer dogs equal only one thing, a hefty price tag. AKC will not accept these designer dogs in the show ring, nor will they recognize them as a pure bred. The UKC states that they have to have a lineage of 3 ancestors before they will even accept the breed. I had a Rat Terrier which the breed had been established back in 1990, my little Cody had his lineage of 3 ancestors, however, AKC will not accept the breed as a pure bred because the breed has only been going since 1990. When I did research on Rat Terriers, they are actually a "mix" of Fox Terrier bred with many other breeds. Manchester Terrier, or Beagles, or Grey Hounds, etc. They wanted a more hardy dog for hunting. Technically the Rat Terriers are a mix breed, pure and simple. But breeding the labradoodles (heck call it by the true name, Labrador/Poodle mix) and then trying to pass it off as a pure bred. lol Come on, really.. lol Not only will judges, and other members of AKC, as well as serious dog breeders laugh in your face, basically you will be a laughing stock in any good dog society. Besides, this is a mix breed of 2 hunting dogs. Poodles were originally hunting dogs, thus the Lion's Clip. The Lion's Clip was designed to protect the joints and vital areas of the dog while he/she was in the water hunting ducks. And was shaved in other areas to help them get through the water easier. So now with a labrador/poodle.. what do you do now? lol Have a labrador body shaved in a Lion's Clip? lol Or let the dog go with it's natural hair and watch it sink to the bottom because of the thickness of the hair? lol No wonder all of the good, well bred dogs are going extinct.

A mutt is a mutt. Absolutely. The best dogs come from the pound. People need to stop perpetuating puppy mills by buying dogs from pet stores.

We buys our pets used at the pound... best critters we've had. They've probably suffered in the hands of some moron, so they appreciate us more. Like my mom always said as she beat me silly - "It will build your character".

The current trend where I'm at is the "Sporkie."

Feel free to add that to the list of overly-annoying little dogs that are probably dressed in those embarrassing little sweaters.

Any dog that can fit in a designer club handbag should euthanized along with its owner. These aren't dogs, they're fashion accessories.

A dog has to be able to frighten a squirrel (at minimum) to be called a dog.
